For the third year running, Avalon gave their support to National Ethical Investment Week held this year from 16th to 22nd October.  One of the reasons for our continued support is to highlight to both advisers and their clients the importance of making investments in well established companies that have clear environmental policies and environmental management systems.  A few years ago we established our Socially Responsible Portfolios with 5 models that combine financial objectives which concern social, environmental and ethical issues.  Consumers who invest in socially responsible investments can advance positive social and environmental goals.  Please look at the Helping Water Aid tab for further information on the various Socially Responsible ISA and Portfolios available and we also have a list of some of the Ethical Funds available on our platform under the Fund Research tab.

You may or may not have heard of Platforum.  They provide a platform analysis tool for IFAs to guide them through the important platform selection process and required due diligence.

Platforum have piloted an IFA-only platform reviews/ratings page which they have built in response to IFAs asking them what their peers think of platforms.  They thought it would be useful for advisers to see unbiased feedback coming from fellow users.

Platforum would like IFAs to submit reviews and rate those platforms you use or have seen at first-hand.  It's a bit like Amazon where you can rate a book and other users get to see what people think about it.

We would really appreciate it if you could visit The Platforum and post your reviews.

The website address is www.theplatforum.com

Some of you may have seen in the news that a company operating as Freedom SIPP is being closed down by HMRC for administration failures. The Avalon Freedom SIPP which is part of our range of Freedom products is in no way connected to Freedom SIPP.

Update 26th August 2009

Some of you may have seen the news that The Freedom Sipp, which closed to new business last year, is facing imminent deregistration with HMRC now issuing a winding up petition for the scheme.

We would like to remind our clients and advisers that the Avalon Freedom SIPP is in no way connected to Freedom SIPP.

Due to security upgrades to our website the IFA and Existings Clients log in screens are now at a different website address. If users have bookmarked our old page this will NOT work anymore. You can then bookmark the new address.

If you have any problems please contact us.

Update 23rd December 2008

You may have seen on IFAonline.co.uk that a company called Freedom SIPP has closed for new business due to administrative deficiencies identified by the FSA. We would like to make it clear that there is no connection between the company Freedom SIPP and Avalon's Freedom SIPP. Avalon has invested heavily using modern systems to ensure our SIPP administration is of the highest quality and we insist on staff being qualified pension administrators. For more information on the Avalon Freedom SIPP please see our website avaloninvestment.com
